This Saturday we have something very special planned for a select few. A handful of drivers were hand picked; not by popular vote, but for their skill and dedication. They have been invited to attend a private road course day at the new Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison IL, marking the first DriftSTL event on the infield since the change in management. That makes them the first drivers to drift the road course in almost 3 years. It will be a very exciting day and not one to miss. Won't you come out and watch? Gates for drivers open @ 6 A.M. Registration & Tech opens @ 7 A.M. On Track @ 8 A.M. Full Article>

Import Face Off a Sudden Success

Andrew Lewis, violating the outside [back straight].
The first annual Import Face Off was yesterday, held at Gateway Motorsports Park. A fairly sizable crowd turned out to see the show cars, watch 9 second wheel standing rotary cars and of course, to watch our field of near 60 drift cars tear up the fresh-lain black top and smack a few k-rails.

The event was off to a bit of a shaky start with a last minute course rearrangement handed down from GMP staff, but a solid layout was proposed, tested and then thoroughly thrashed.

Once the drivers settled in and established a line on the new, ice-like surface sealant, we rolled out the tandem groups which evolved into 3 and 4 car trains, spewing yellow smoke and flinging bits of tire and body panel all over the freshly washed hard parkers.

The day was not with out it's share of accidents. Jeff Smith got a bit loose on the first corner and stuck his SC300 between two k-rails. He was a bit shaken but the damage to his car looked to be minimal. A quick inspection of vital parts showed no cracks or leaks in cooling or charge pipes. Hopefully he will report in soon on what it looks like under the smashed up front bumper cover.

A silver lining for the day would prove to be hidden in the slick surface, which was a result of recent tar and sealer to be more aesthetically pleasing for the coming NHRA nationals event. This allowed for easy movement of krail, lessening impact and car damage.
Scottie Fenton on his newly remodeled rear end.
Scottie Fenton and Steve Fishel got into a bit of a smacking contest at the apex of the sweeper, during a three car train.

Scottie reports on the accident, "Clutch kicked into third and whamm! Went too wide...everything is fixed mostly. One MB Battle down though."
Fishels car was a bit scraped up but no major damage. Just a rattled driver and 3 k-rails to be moved.

Steve Fishel..waiting patiently.

The drag strip wasn't with out its share of excitement, either.

Ramp Riders Skate Park set up a bunch of jumps, blasted hair metal and shredded all afternoon. Thanks
for the dopeness Chad!

.:::MIDNIGHT MADNESS SIX:::.

Next Friday the 17th we'll kick it like back in the day.

It's time to party like we used to and have more fun than Mike Crabtree with a sawzall. Think Cankles and 8 gram rocks...pre Charlie Sheen. It's time to play car games!

-Flip a Bitch is back!!
Use your e brake or some slick Scandinavian trickery to land your car in a stop box. Most epic flip wins. (Chris Mak should drive this event...he'd flip better than most)

-NEW EVENT:: TIGHTEST ENTRY!!
Think limbo...only laterally. The entry to the first sweeper will shrink like Elton John at a strip club. After every pass the entry practices its kagel and tries to squeeze out those who may not be up to the challenge.

Music, food, cars, games and all your friends in one place.

$25 to drift/play
$15 to party

Gates at 7pm and activities start at 8pm. Ticket and tech card pre-sales are located across the street. Full Article>
