MDU ProAM Round 2, July 13

Head to Gateway Motorsports Park, Saturday July 13 to watch the MDU/DriftSTL Formula D Pro*Am Drifting Competition. Held on one of the fastest and most coveted race tracks in the Midwest, this is the second round of the Midwest Formula D Pro*AM Series. Drivers will shred tires, door to door at speeds over 100mph sideways.

This is a competition round of drifting in the Formula D Pro*Am series where driver are competing for their Formula Drift Professional License, which will allow them to compete in the FD Professional Drift Series. Competition Drifting is a judged motorsport. Two cars will drive two heats, head to head, through a series of corners and will be judged on essential criteria. Performance is assessed and points are awarded. The winning driver with the most points advances through a bracket system towards the podium.

General Admission is just $15 at the gate and the action starts at 10am.

Judging Criteria
Line - Drivers are required hold the desired (or proposed) racing line and meet all [clipping points] apex's, and transition through corner changes in control. In most cases a tighter line will yield higher points.

Speed - Speed is a bi-product but can become a deciding factor. A loss of speed can result in a loss of points during a heat, or allow room for passing which would result in a loss.

Angle - The angle at which a driver attacks a corner, while relative to the car and it's driver, is the basic component of drifting, and the most heavily judged. The driver aims to have the car at its most extreme angle when entering a corner, or passing through an apex or "clipping point". A loss in drift angle will result in a loss of points and achieving no angle through a corner would result in a zero.

Style: - The style of a driver is judged by overall presentation, aggressiveness and flow of the run. Each judge will have 10 points to give for each run presented.
